GW women's soccer's defensive unit was instrumental in posting back-to-back shutouts en route to a 2-0 weekend that was capped by securing a bid to the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Colonials first blanked non-conference opponent Delaware State, 5-0, on Friday, limiting the Hornets to four shots and just one on goal.  GW then shut out A-10 foe Richmond, 2-0, on Sunday in its Senior Day match and regular-season finale to earn a bid to the conference championship for the first time since 2002. The back line - anchored by defenders Melanie Keer, MacKenzie McIndoe, Alex Brothers and Elizabeth Casey and goalkeeper Nicole Ulrick - held the Spiders to just two shots on target in 10 attempts. GW's weekend shutouts were its seventh and eighth clean sheets of the season, the most for the Colonials since 1994.
