Rowe Chosen to A-10 Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team

Nov. 5, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington freshman women's soccer goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in voting conducted by the league's head coaches and released Wednesday.

Rowe started all 19 matches and played 1732-of-1741 minutes in goal for the Colonials this season, stopping a league-best 104 shots. She also ranked second in the A-10 with 5.47 saves per game and ranked third with five shutouts. Her five shutouts were the most for a GW freshman goalkeeper since 1987 and are third all-time for a rookie in program history.

The league's Rookie of the Week on Oct. 13, Rowe posted eight-or-more saves in a match five times, including a season- and career-best 10 stops in her collegiate debut at Rutgers Aug. 23 and at Virginia Tech Sept. 7. Both the Scarlet Knights and Hokies are receiving votes in this week's NSCAA National Top 25.

GW went 7-7-0 over its last 14 matches to finish 8-11-0 overall in 2008. The Colonials won four A-10 matches, their most since 2004, and finished five points shy of the league's final playoff spot.
