GW Softball Earns Thrilling 6-5 Comeback Victory Over Towson

The Tigers (6-7) held a 5-2 lead through five and a half innings, but the Colonials (3-9) scored two runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh to earn their second straight victory at home. Down by three in the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman Victoria Valos singled to center field and advanced to second on an errant throw. Junior Julie Orlandi then smacked a RBI single to right field to plate Valos, while Orlandi advanced to second. GW cut the lead to one after a single by junior Tara Fogarty moved Orlandi to third who then subsequently stole home. After holding the Tigers scoreless in the seventh, the Colonials knotted the score at 5-5 when sophomore Chelsea Lenhart hit a RBI double to left field that scored freshman Samantha Dos Santos. With
Valos went 4-for-4 at the plate with a run and a RBI. Sophomore pitcher Courtney Martin picked up the save for the Colonials. Senior Kara Clauss opened the contest and struck out a season-high six batters while walking none. GW heads to |
