WASHINGTON – The George Washington softball team scored four runs in the final two innings of action to overcome Towson and earn a thrilling 6-5 comeback victory on Wednesday afternoon at Mount Vernon Field.

The Tigers (6-7) held a 5-2 lead through five and a half innings, but the Colonials (3-9) scored two runs in the sixth and added two more in the seventh to earn their second straight victory at home.

Down by three in the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman Victoria Valos singled to center field and advanced to second on an errant throw. Junior Julie Orlandi then smacked a RBI single to right field to plate Valos, while Orlandi advanced to second.

GW cut the lead to one after a single by junior Tara Fogarty moved Orlandi to third who then subsequently stole home.

With Taylor on third base and two outs on the board, Valos hit a RBI single up the middle to send Taylor home and lift GW to a come-from-behind victory.
