EWARDSVILLE, IL--The George Washington Colonials stepped out of Atlantic 10 Conference play Sunday, to take on the SIUE Cougars. The Colonials fell to the Cougars 8-0 in five innings to fall to 4-20 on the season, while the Cougars improved to 20-16.

Freshman pitcher Elaine Nescio took to the circle for her first collegiate start, getting the loss in three-plus innings of work. Nescio allowed four runs, walked two and struck out one.

Freshman catcher Tara Fogarty had a big weekend on the road, earning her third hit of the weekend in the second inning. Fogarty also drew a walk in the fourth, but was left stranded both innings.

SIUE got on the board in the second after Nescio gave up a lead off home run. With two outs, Fogarty overthrew second base on a steal, allowing SIUE to go up 2-0 before Nescio got the next batter to fly out to end the inning.
