WASHINGTON - GW first baseman Sandi Moynihan tied the game at 4-4 with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs, she hit a two-run home run over the left field wall.

Katie Terrazas scored from third earlier in the inning when Mount St. Mary's second baseman bobbled Kristi Saporito's sharp ground ball. Saporito touched the plate on Moynihan's home run.

The Mount scored one in top of the eight getting a one-out double, followed by a single up the middle to go up 5-4 for the win.

Elaine Nescio tossed all eight innings, giving up five runs on nine hits. She walked two and struck out six. Nescio was able to force 11 Mount batters to fly out in the game.

In game one, the Mount jumped on Colonials starter Heidi Penna in the first, knocking in five runs on four hits. Penna threw five innings, gave up all eight runs, walked seven and struck out six.

The Colonials were able to get seven hits on Mount starter Amanda Hanson, but were unable to a runner past second base.

Mount St. Mary's went on to post runs in the third and fourth to win the game 8-0 in five innings.

The Colonials (4-24, 1-7 A-10) travel to face St. Bonaventure for two Atlantic 10 games on Saturday, April 10, with first pitch at 2:00 p.m. The next GW home game is Wednesday, April 14 for one game against area rival George Mason, at 4:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Softball Field.
