WASHINGTON- Freshman Autumn Taylor hit her team-leading third home run in the second inning to give the Colonials (5-38, 2-16 A-10) an early 2-0 lead over 49ers (37-13, 14-2 A-10) Saturday afternoon at Mount Vernon Field. Charlotte came back in the fifth inning to win 3-2 in the second game of the Atlantic 10 match-up.

GW starter Kara Clauss kept Charlotte batters off the base paths until the fifth inning when she allowed three runs on three hits by the 49ers. Clauss tossed a complete game, giving up seven hits, striking two and walking one.

Senior Elisa Van Kirk hit two singles in the game, coming in the second and the fourth innings.

Charlotte pitcher Katy Hackett tossed five innings allowing six GW hits and striking out seven. Emily Jeffery came in to pitch two innings in relief for Charlotte, walking one and striking out five.

The Colonials will wrap up the 2010 season Saturday, May 8, at home for an Atlantic 10 double header against Dayton starting at noon at Mount Vernon Field.
