PHILADELPHIA, PA- In the top of the seventh, the George Washington softball team was able to push across the winning run on Tara Fogarty's single to right field for the 1-0 victory over La Salle in game one of an A-10 doubleheader Saturday at West Campus Field. The Colonials (16-26-1, 4-16 Atlantic 10) fell 5-4 to the Explorers (5-38, 2-14 A-10) in the second game to wrap up the 2011 season.

In the first game, Katie Terrazas, Sandi Moynihan and Fogarty got two hits apiece against La Salle, but the Colonials' offense was unable to advance a runner past second base until the seventh inning.

Wilson led off the seventh with a single to left field and advanced to second base on a ground out by Terrazas. With two outs, Fogarty drove in Wilson from second with an RBI single for the 1-0 victory.

GW starter Kara Clauss held La Salle to two hits, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Clauss also struck out five and walked none, closing out the season with a 12-13 record.

Behind game two starter Heidi Penna, the Colonials took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Moynihan led off the inning with a base hit up the middle and was doubled home by Julie Orlandi.

La Salle got on the board in the fourth inning, tagging Penna for three runs on four hits. Courtney Martin came in to get the last two outs of the inning and held the Explorers to a single run.

The Explorers added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth, however, on a home run to center field for a 5-1 lead.

In the sixth inning, freshman Chelsea Lenhart got a leadoff single and advanced to third on a double by Wilson. Autumn Taylor brought the Colonials within one with a three-run blast, her third round-tripper of the season. The Colonials threatened to score the tying run in the top of the seventh but Clauss was left stranded at second base.
