CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The George Washington University softball team continued its fall exhibition season this past weekend on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3, at the Cavalier Fall Classic hosted by the University of Virgina at The Park in Charlottesville. GW defeated Hampton, 4-1, and Radford, 6-0, on Saturday, before dropping back-to-back games to UVA on Sunday.

Freshman Katie Miller (Manteo, NC) struck out four and scattered six hits to earn the win against Hampton, while classmate Jackie Yaniga went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and pair of stolen bases. Sophomore Elana Meyers (Douglasville, GA) finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.

In game two against the Highlanders, freshman Gabby Gulp (Upper Marlboro, MD) tossed a one-hitter to earn the win for the Colonials, while Meyers, Yaniga and freshman Chrysantni Halkiotis (Brookeville, MD) each added two hits at the plate. Freshman Lindsay Graham (Palm Bay, FL) also scored two runs.

On Sunday, GW fell to Virginia in its opening tilt, 4-2, followed by an 8-0 shutout loss in game two to the Cavaliers in five innings. Yaniga added a homerun for the Colonials in game one as Miller gave up nine hits and fanned two in the loss. Graham was pinned with the loss in the nightcap.
