NCAA and Atlantic 10 Rule GW's First Games are Exhibitions
March 11, 2003
The NCAA, in conjunction with the Atlantic 10 Conference, ruled that the six inning games played by George Washington over the weekend in Hampton, VA will not count towards their overall record. The games did not meet regulation status because they were halted after six innings on request of the tournament supervisors, not because of weather or darkness, as is the rule. Therefore, today's first game of the doubleheader versus Towson will be considered the first game in GW Softball history. The games will be played at the GW-Mount Vernon Softball field today, March 11, at 2:00 p.m.
