NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington’s Jenna Cone and Sarah Costlow picked up Atlantic 10 weekly softball honors Tuesday for their efforts in a dominant run at the Colonial Classic.

Cone was named A-10 Player of the Week, while Costlow shared the conference’s Pitcher of the Week award after the Colonials went a combined 6-0 against Princeton and Fairleigh Dickinson over three days at GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.

Cone showed tremendous patience to compile an incredible stat line and earn her first A-10 Player of the Week honor. The sophomore from California stoked an offense that averaged more than 10 runs per game for the week, going 8-for-8 with a home run, a double, seven walks and three HBPs. She scored eight runs and drove in nine runs, including a career-high tying five RBIs in Sunday's 9-6 win over Princeton. She also stole two bases.

For the weekend, Cone was retired just three times in 21 total plate appearances with all of the outs driving in runs as sacrifice flies. The 2017 A-10 Rookie of the Year has lifted her season average to .393 (22-for-56).

Costlow continued her strong senior season with two wins and a 0.58 ERA over 12 innings to improve to 6-1. The veteran hurler tossed a complete game in Friday's 3-1 win over Princeton, allowing one run on eight hits with four strikeouts against one walk. On Sunday, she posted her first shutout of the season, limiting Fairleigh Dickinson to three hits over five innings with four more strikeouts in a 20-0 victory.

With a pair of quality starts, Costlow anchored a staff that recorded a 1.85 ERA in the six victories last week. It was the California native’s second A-10 weekly pitching honor of the season and the fourth of her career. She shared this one with Kiara Oliver of Massachusetts.

GW (15-7) returns to action Wednesday at its home on the Mount Vernon Campus, hosting UMBC for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
