WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball squad continues a 10-game homestand on Tuesday when Buffalo visits the GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

The Colonials (11-11) come off of a 4-1 weekend at the Capital Invite, where GW took three victories over Niagara and one win over Penn State.

Priscilla Martinez earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors after posting a .471 (8-for-17) average over the weekend with five RBI, three runs scored and a home run. Martinez provided a walkoff single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning on Friday to secure GW's first win of the weekend over Niagara.

Freshman Jenna Cone enters Tuesday tied for the program's single-season home run record with 11 round-trippers on the year and leads the team with 32 RBI. Senior Paige Kovalsky is batting a team-best .371 with a squad-high seven doubles.

In the circle, junior Sarah Costlow leads the staff with a 6-3 record and a strong 2.44 ERA with eight complete games. The righty has held opposing batters to a .235 average.

Buffalo (3-19) has lost its last four contests, most recently dropping games to James Madison, Maryland and Binghamton at the Maryland Invitational over the weekend.

As a team, Buffalo owns an ERA of 5.58 this season and is batting .237 in 2017.

The Colonials and Bulls have met just once before, in 2012, when Buffalo edged GW, 5-4.
