WASHINGTON - Coming off a doubleheader sweep of Cornell on Thursday, the George Washington softball team looks to keep the momentum going when it hosts Atlantic 10 rival La Salle for a doubleheader on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.

GW (13-19-1, 0-2 A-10) defeated the Big Red by scores of 4-3 and 16-14, twice rallying from deficits of four runs or more in the nightcap. Freshman Jillian Galich went 4-for-6 with three doubles and six RBIs in the twin bill, while junior Victoria Valos was 3-for-5 with three RBIs, five runs scored and four walks.

Freshman Bradleigh Breland, who went 3-for-5 and scored three runs in the nightcap, is batting a team-best .346 on the season, leading four Colonials hitting better than .300. Valos, who is batting .337, has a league-leading 13 doubles and is tied for the team lead in RBIs (24) with freshman Megan Linn, who is close behind with a .336 average to go with team highs of 23 runs and 14 stolen bases.

La Salle (11-12, 3-1 A-10) has lost three in a row after dropping two to Delaware on Thursday by scores of 3-0 and 5-1. Suzanne Swanicke ranks fourth in the A-10 in hitting with a .391 average and eight doubles, while Megan Hodgson, who is hitting .344, is tops in slugging (.770) and fourth in on-base percentage (.467) and RBIs (24), and her seven home runs are tied for second in the league. Alicia Aughton is 7-5 in the circle and leads the A-10 in ERA (1.93) and opposing batting average (.200).

GW is 9-11 all-time against La Salle and has won three of the last four meetings after splitting a doubleheader last season in Philadelphia.
