WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball team visits Atlantic 10 rival Saint Joseph's for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m. at the SJU Softball Field.

GW (16-24-1, 2-6 A-10) split a non-conference doubleheader at Hampton on Wednesday. Freshmen Megan Linn and Bradleigh Breland each had three hits and two steals on the day.

Linn has reached base safely in a school-record 21 straight games dating to March 11, and she has stolen 22 consecutive bases since March 9, another program-best mark. Linn is hitting .441 (15-for-34) and slugging .647 during her current nine-game hitting streak, which dates to April 2.

The Colonials' leadoff hitter Linn has ignited GW to a .329 team batting average over the last nine games. Freshmen Jillian Galich (.440), Madi Myers-Cook (.412) and Bradleigh Breland (.381), sophomore Morgan Matetic (.345) and junior Victoria Valos (.333) are all hitting better than .320 during that stretch.

Linn leads the Atlantic 10 with 24 stolen bases on the season, the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and just five shy of Amanda Zakeri's school record of 29, set in 2013. Linn also ranks third in the league in hits (49), fourth in runs scored (33) and RBIs (31), fifth in total bases (66) and eighth in batting average (.358).

Already GW's all-time leader in doubles (38), RBIs (117) and extra-base hits (67), Valos hit the 26th home run of her career on Wednesday, tying Jackie Yaniga's program record set from 2005-08. She is hitting .328 on the year and leads the A-10 with 16 doubles, which ranks second on the Colonials' single-season list, one behind Chrysanthi Halkiotis' school record of 17 in 2008. Valos is also tied with Linn for fourth in the league in RBIs (31) and fifth in total bases (66).

As a team, GW has hit 64 doubles on the year, the program's second-highest single-season total ever behind the record of 63 set in 2012. The Colonials rank second in the A-10 in two-baggers while leading the league with 71 steals - 34 more than any other team in the conference.

Saint Joseph's, which won the A-10 regular season in 2013, was picked to finish in a tie with GW for second place in the league's preseason poll. The Hawks (14-16, 4-4 A-10) have lost three of their last four games after dropping a non-conference matchup with Lehigh, 5-1, on Wednesday. Hannah Dionne leads SJU in hitting at .351, while Brandi Harkness has a team-high 16 RBIs. Saint Joseph's boasts the top pitching staff in the A-10, leading the league in team ERA (3.11) and opposing batting average (.261). Niki Carillo (2.45) and Anna Lauterbach (2.48) rank second and fourth in the conference in ERA, respectively.

Junior Samantha Dos Santos is a career .462 hitter with six hits in 13 at-bats spanning five career games against Saint Joseph's, while Valos is 8-for-17 (.471) with two doubles and three RBIs against the Hawks.
