WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball team hits the road for a three-game series at defending Atlantic 10 champion Fordham beginning with a doubleheader at Bahoshy Field on Saturday.

The Colonials (23-19, 6-8 A-10) return to action after sweeping Revolutionary Rival George Mason in a doubleheader on Wednesday at home.

An NFCA National Freshman of the Year finalist, Jenna Cone has been a force at the plate for the Colonials, leading the squad with a .403 average - good for third in the A-10 - and a school-record 17 home runs to lead the conference. Cone is just two RBIs away from snapping GW's single-season record.

Four additional Colonials own batting averages over .300 to help the team to a league-best .316 mark. Fordham ranks second with a team average of .312.

Cone isn't the only power player for GW, as senior Paige Kovalsky and freshman Priscilla Martinez rank first and second in the league with 15 and 14 doubles, respectively.

Freshman Kaitlin Buff (6-4) earned both wins over Mason with strong relief outings, while junior Sarah Costlow (8-7) leads the staff with a 2.54 ERA on the year.

Fordham (34-12, 10-4 A-10) takes a three-game win streak into the weekend, having most recently swept St. Bonaventure in doubleheader play on Wednesday. The Rams sit with atop the conference with a team ERA of 2.12.

First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m., while Sunday's series finale will begin at 1 p.m.
