Colonial of the Week - Victoria Valos

May 4, 2015

Name: Victoria Valos
Sport: Softball
Year: Senior
Hometown: Bakersfield, Calif.
High School: Stockdale

Valos batted .667 (4-for-6) with six walks for an .833 on-base percentage in three games against Atlantic 10 opponent Rhode Island over the weekend. The shortstop smacked her team-best eighth home run of the season on Sunday and notched a 1.500 slugging percentage.

On Saturday afternoon, the psychology major broke GW's all-time career hits record with an RBI triple for her 203rd hit to surpass GW Athletics Hall of Famer and two-time Olympic bobsled medalist Elana Meyers Taylor's mark that had stood since 2007.

On Sunday, Valos was a critical component in the game-winning play over the Rams. With a runner on third base in the bottom of the seventh and the score tied, 6-6, Valos was intentionally walked - her fourth walk of the game after hitting a game-tying two-run homer in the first inning - then stole second to draw a throw from the catcher, allowing the runner on third to score and end the game.

Valos will graduate as GW's all-time leader in career hits (206), runs scored (139), doubles (51), home runs (36), RBIs (170), extra-base hits (91), total bases (373), slugging percentage (.629), on-base percentage (.433), at-bats (593) and games started (199).
