WASHINGTON - Houston-area pitcher Ashley Pilcher will join the George Washington softball team for the 2015 season, head coach Stacey Schramm announced.

Pilcher, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, is a three-time second-team All-District and Academic All-District selection out of Memorial High School, where she was a teammate of current Colonial rising sophomore Bradleigh Breland. Pilcher posted a 4-3 record with a 1.90 ERA in district play as a senior and was selected to participate in the All-Houston Area High School All-Star Game.

Pilcher also plays for the Texas Shockwave DeMarini Gold travel team, recording a 1.52 ERA and a .364 batting average in the fall of 2013.

"Ashley will add depth to the pitching staff, which is obviously crucial to our performance over the course of our long season," said Coach Schramm. "She offers a very different look from our other pitchers, Meghan Rico, Paige Kovalsky and incoming freshman Sarah Costlow. I expect Ashley to contribute a significant amount throughout the year, both in relief and potentially as a starter."

Pilcher will join Costlow, Alana Anderson, Rochelle Draper, Aiyana Leal-Robles and Morgan Rinehart, who all signed National Letters of Intent to become Colonials in November.
