Elana Meyers Named To ECAC Softball All-Star Team

WASHINGTON, DC - Elana Meyers (Douglasville, GA/Lithia Springs) was named to the ECAC Division I softball All-Star team it was announced on Thursday. The 2007 Co-Student Athlete of the Year led the Colonials to their first ever Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance with a game-winning grand slam in her final home game.
Meyers batted a team-best .413 (.532 in A-10 play) in 2007, helping lead the Colonials to their first-ever appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The graduate student also paced the Colonials with 59 hits, 26 runs scored, 14 doubles, and 25 runs batted in en route to garnering NFCA First Team All-Region accolades.
After becoming the first GW softball signee, Meyers started all 192 of GW's all-time games. Meyers left Foggy Bottom as GW's all-time career leader in batting average (.356), on-base percentage (.430), runs (111), hits (202), doubles (32), triples (15), total bases (297), walks (63), and stolen bases (68). The Douglasville, GA, native was also the first Colonial to receive All-Conference accolades and earned First Team All A-10 and A-10 Softball Student-Athlete of the Year honors in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Meyers is currently playing for the Mid-Michigan Ice, a professional softball team based in Midland, MI.
Also on Thursday, the ECAC announced its Player and Pitcher of the Year awards for Division I. The Atlantic 10 swept those awards as Adrienne Repsher of Temple was named Player of the Year, while Brandice Balschmiter of Massachusetts was named Pitcher of the Year.
