Softball Releases Fall Schedule
Colonials to host four doubleheaders
WASHINGTON - George Washington softball will host four doubleheaders this fall in preparation for the 2018 season, head coach James DeFeo announced Tuesday.
"I am excited about our challenging fall schedule,” DeFeo said. “We are playing some teams that we will see again in the spring, so it will be interesting to witness the progress our team makes during this time.”
The Colonials start their exhibition slate Sept. 30 at the GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus with two games against Coppin State, beginning at noon. The following weekend they welcome Georgetown (Oct. 7) and Delaware St. (Oct. 8) for a pair of twin bills, both with noon starts.
The Buff and Blue concludes the fall schedule Oct. 14 with a visit from Howard for a noon doubleheader.
Last spring, GW registered a program-record 28 wins and set a slew of statistical marks in its first season under DeFeo. The Colonials will look to build on that success with a strong returning cast, highlighted by eight position players who started at least 25 games and all five pitchers who took the mound.
“Our roster is full of impact players,” DeFeo said. “This fall is all about growing as a team and trusting the process of getting better a little bit everyday."
