GW Softball Sets Fall Schedule
Colonials to Compete in Three Weekends in September and October
Sept. 11, 2013
WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball team will host scrimmages in back-to-back fall weekends and will travel for a third, facing teams from around the region in preparation for the 2013 spring campaign, fourth-year Head Coach Stacey Schramm announced today.
The fall schedule kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 22, when GW hosts UMBC in a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the GW Softball Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The following weekend, the Colonials will face off against their former teammates in the first-ever GW Softball Alumni Game on Saturday, Sept. 28, and GW will host Georgetown and Mount St. Mary's the next day beginning at 10 a.m.
GW concludes its fall slate at the Maryland Fall Round Robin on Oct. 5-6. The Colonials will face Bowie State on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Howard at 11:30 a.m. The next day, GW will again take on the Bison at 10 a.m. before facing the host Terrapins at 12 p.m.
The Colonials enjoyed their first-ever winning season in 2013, reaching the Atlantic 10 Championship for the second year in a row. GW returns 10 letterwinners from that squad, including A-10 All-Conference second-team pitcher Courtney Martin and two-time team MVP Victoria Valos.
