Oct. 1, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - In the midst of their fall season, The George Washington University softball team received even more recognition from their most successful season in program history, as it was announced that the Colonials recorded the tenth-best team grade point average in Division I with a GPA of 3.420 in 2006-07. One hundred eighteen programs received acknowledgement as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Teams, while the top ten, including GW, are all nationally recognized. "We are very excited and thrilled with our student-athletes performance both in the classroom as well as on the playing field," said Head Coach Kim Staehle. "Our GW student-athletes receive the best academic support services which are truly integral to our success in the classroom." The softball program also received recognition this past spring at GW's Annual Senior Honors Luncheon for recording the highest team grade point average in the Athletic Department. Eleven of the teams nineteen players from the 2007 season recorded at least a 3.5 GPA, while sixteen recorded at least a 3.0 GPA.
