PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 12-ranked George Washington women's squash team won the top three matches on the ladder before falling to No. 9 Brown, 6-3, on Sunday evening at Brodsky Squash Pavilion.

GW, returning to action for the first time since Dec. 7, won two of the top-three matches in straight sets.

Sophomore Anna Gabriela Porras cruised to an 11-6, 11-5, 11-9 decision over Sarah Domenick, the 65th-ranked individual in the College Squash Association. The win moves Porras' 2013-14 record to a team best 4-1 overall.

Freshman Breanne Flynn continued her strong start to her first collegiate season, surrendering just nine total points en route to a 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 victory over Dori Rahbar at No. 2. Flynn's record improves to 3-2 with the victory.

Sophomore Alejandra Porras earned her second career victory at No. 3 over Hannah Hay-Smith. Porras took a 2-0 lead after winning the first two games by scores of 11-9 and 11-8. Hay-Smith avoided the sweep in the third before Porras clinched the match with an 11-7 win in the fourth.

Senior Jackie Shea battled back from a 0-2 deficit at No. 5 to force a decisive fifth set before yielding an 11-5, 11-9, 8-11, 1-11, 11-6 victory to Katherine Elliott-Moskwa at No. 5.

Sophomore Eunice Tan held a 2-1 advantage over Isabel Pitaro at No. 9 but eventually fell 12-10, 4-11, 2-11, 13-11, 12-10.

GW returns to action next weekend with a road trip to Massachusetts where they will visit No. 21 Mount Holyoke on Friday (7:00 p.m.) before traveling to Amherst to face No. 10 Bates (Saturday, 1:00 p.m.) and No. 18 Amherst (Sun., 9:00 a.m.).
