Women's Squash Concludes Weekend In New England

NEW HAVEN - The No. 12 George Washington women's squash team concluded a weekend in New England on Sunday afternoon but fell to a trio of top-10 teams.

GW (6-6) began the weekend with a 9-0 loss against No. 2 Yale on Friday night. The host Bulldogs won eight-of-nine matches in straight sets. Freshman Anna Gabriela Porras was the lone holdout for the Colonials, winning the third set of her match at No. 1 against Kimberly Hay before yielding a 13-11, 11-8, 11-13, 13-11 decision.

On Saturday, the Colonials suffered consecutive 8-1 losses against No. 10 Williams and No. 13 Columbia. Porras again was the lone winner for the Colonials, recording a pair of 3-0 victories in both matches at the number one position to run her individual record to 9-3 overall.

On Sunday, GW fell to No. 6 Cornell by a score of 9-0. Porras' win streak was halted as the Colonials lost all matches in straight sets.

GW is back in action on Friday night as the Colonials host Johns Hopkins at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center at 6:00 p.m. The next day, the Colonials will play host to Bucknell at 12:00 p.m.
