PRINCETON, NJ- The George Washington women's squash team upset No. 14 Columbia 5-4 on Sunday afternoon to secure the highest end of season ranking in program history, No. 15 in the College Squash Association.

The Colonials suffered setbacks against No. 9 Brown and No. 13 Amherst before facing off with Columbia on Sunday afternoon. Freshmen Jackie Shea and Kelly Barnes each delivered wins from the top of the ladder. Shea defeated Liz Chu in straight sets, 11-4, 11-6, 11-9 while Barnes used four games to drop Kate Quan (11-9, 6-11, 12-10, 11-6).

Columbia would take the next three games on the ladder. But the Colonials responded with huge efforts in the bottom portion of the lineup to propel them to the upset victory.

Junior Caroline Shumway delivered a five-set victory over Anne Cheng (9-11, 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 11-8). Freshman Kyung Min Kim swept Alexa Mouta 11-7, 11-7, 11-8 and senior Eliza Ehrlich cruised to a 12-10, 11-9, 11-5 victory over Jenny Schroder.
