No. 12 Women’s Squash Falls in Season Finale

PRINCETON, N.J. – The George Washington women’s squash team won two matches at the top of the ladder but ultimately fell, 7-2, to No. 11 Brown in the 11/12 playoff of the Kurtz Cup (B-Division) on Sunday afternoon at Princeton University’s Jadwin Squash Courts. The Colonials end the season ranked 12th in the nation.

Senior Breanne Flynn closed out her GW career with a victory at No. 1 in an 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 sweep over Quincy Beck.

Freshman Engy El Mandouh won a 3-2 thriller over Hannah Seckendorf at No. 2, battling back from a 2-1 deficit to come out on top, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-3, 11-9.

The Colonials conceded a total of two, five-game matches at Nos. 5 and 9, and four, four-game matches at Nos. 3, 4, 6, and 8.

Breanne Flynn concludes her collegiate career with 53 individual victories, which ranks her second all-time at GW. The Dublin, Ireland native was named the recipient of the 2017 Collegiate Squash Association Richey Award, an award given annually to the women’s college squash player who best exemplifies the ideals of squash in her love of and devotion to the game, her strong sense of fairness and her excellence of play and leadership.
