GW Women's Squash Rolls to 9-0 Win Over Georgetown in Season Opener
Four Freshman Earn Straight-Set Victories in Collegiate Debuts

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's squash team opened the 2012-13 season with a convincing 9-0 win over District rival Georgetown on Friday evening at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
Each player in the GW (1-0) lineup recorded a straight-sets victory, including the four freshmen playing in their collegiate debuts.
Freshman Anna Gabriela Porras, the highest ranked recruit to ever come to GW, yielded just six points in her 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 victory in the No. 1 position. The rest of the lineup followed suit as the Colonials earned their fifth consecutive season opener over Georgetown (0-1).
Freshman Emily Levyn also dominated in her first collegiate match, yielding just two points in an 11-1, 11-0, 11-1 victory over Julia Caffrey at No. 5. Classmates Alexa Tzarnas and Sarah Allen followed with straight-set wins of their own at No. 6 and No. 8, respectively. Allen also yielded only two points, shutting out her opponent in the second and third sets of an 11-2, 11-0, 11-0 win at No. 8.
The Colonials will travel to Annapolis, Md., next Sunday to face Navy at 11:00 a.m. before returning home to host Bates (Nov. 17, 11 a.m.) and Penn (Nov. 17, 6 p.m.) in two weeks.
