No. 12 Women’s Squash Heads to CSA Nationals

SERVING FIRST: The No. 12 George Washington women’s squash team aims for its second-ever Kurtz Cup (B-division) title when it kicks off play at the College Squash Association (CSA) National Championships against No.13 Brown on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Murr Center squash courts on the campus of Harvard.

LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials split their final two matches of the regular season. After a 6-3 loss to No. 9 Drexel on Friday evening, GW bounced back on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day, downing No. 14 Middlebury, 7-2.

LAST TIME AT NATIONALS: GW went 1-2 in the Kurtz Cup at last year’s CSA National Championships at Princeton. After an upset victory over No. 12 Virginia in the first round, the Colonials went on to play No. 9 Dartmouth, ultimately falling 6-3. The Buff and Blue played No. 10 Brown in the 11-12 playoff, and ended the year ranked 12th in the nation after a 7-2 loss to the Bears.

BRACKET BREAKDOWN: The Kurtz Cup is comprised of teams ranked 9-16 in the latest CSA National Rankings. Also in the bracket along with GW and Brown is No. 9 Drexel, No. 10 Dartmouth, No. 11 Williams, No. 14 Virginia, No. 15 Middlebury, and No. 16 Amherst.

GW is 2-3 against the field this season with wins over Virginia and Middlebury.
