NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The No. 11 George Washington women's squash team will look to improve upon its program-best national ranking and earn its first-ever Kurtz Cup Championship at this weekend's College Squash Association (CSA) Women's Team Nationals at Princeton University.
GW (11-5) will play No. 14 Middlebury in the opening round of the Kurtz Cup (B-Division) on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Princeton's L. Stockwell Jadwin Gymnasium.
This weekend marks GW's third-ever appearance in the Kurtz Cup, which is comprised of teams ranked 9-16 in the latest CSA National Rankings. Also in the bracket along with GW and Middlebury are No. 9 Columbia, No. 10 Brown, No. 12 Bates, No. 13 Drexel, No. 15 Williams and No. 16 Hamilton.
The Colonials defeated then-No. 16 Middlebury, 7-2, on January 26 at the Yale Round Robin and are 3-2 this season against the rest of the field.
GW carries a five-match win streak into this weekend's Kurtz Cup and have won 10 of its last 11 matches dating back to January 17.
