No. 14 GW Women's Squash Visits Columbia & Penn This Weekend
Colonials Look to Avenge Last Season's Losses to Lions and Quakers
Nov. 22, 2013
On Friday evening in Manhattan, the Colonials will host their first-ever on-site alumni reception at the Harmonie Club on the Upper East Side.
Last weekend, the Colonials participated in an exhibition match against Navy's male JV team in Annapolis, Md., and defeated the Midshipmen, 12-0.
GW (1-0) opened its season with a 9-0 sweep of Georgetown on Nov. 8, with each victory coming in straight sets.
The Colonials are looking to avenge losses last season against both of their weekend opponents. GW fell to Penn, 9-0, at home on Nov. 17 of last year and dropped an 8-1 decision to Columbia on January 19 as part of the Yale Round Robin.
Sophomore Anna Gabriela Porras is currently the 21st-ranked player in the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Rankings. Also garnering an individual rank is senior Jackie Shea, who sits at No. 68 in the nation.
GW will conclude its fall schedule by hosting No. 4 Princeton on December 7 at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
