A two-time captain for the Hawkeyes, she was awarded the Esther and Roland Smith Scholarship for Leadership as well as the Alison Pennington Haddon Strength of Character Award.

In addition to her success in the pool, Dell also excelled in the classroom. She was twice named to Iowa's Dean's List, named Academic All-Big Ten and also earned Academic All-America Honorable Mention accolades from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in 2008-09.
