Lauren Fuchs is in her first season as an assistant coach with the GW Swimming program, after completing her swimming career at GW in the spring of 2009. Fuchs stayed around DC since graduating. She has been the pool manager at the Mount Vernon campus during the past two summer seasons, as well as serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Colonials during the 2009-10 season.

Fuchs also worked with GW's Exercise Science Department during the 2009-10 school year, as a swimming instructor. She not only taught the basic swim strokes, she developed and directed workouts with students in and out of the pool.

Athlete - Career at GW:
In her senior season, Fuchs finished 7th in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.51) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.97) at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

As a junior, placed 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.79), 13th in 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.86), and 15th in the 400-yard IM (4:41.69) at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Placed 12th in the 400-yard IM (4:41.29) and in 10th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.00) at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Finished fifth in the 400-yard IM at the Atlantic 10 Championships (4:38.61).

High School: Holds two school records, 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard breastroke (medley relay) ... All-state, all-county, all-league and All-American consideration ... Team captain ... Member of the National Honor Society who graduated with a 5.6 weighted GPA.

Personal: Born January 31, 1987 in Stony Brook, NY ... daughter of Nancy and Norman Fuchs ... has a sister, Valerie ... graduated from GW in May 2009 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Exercise Science.
