Women's Swimming & Diving Places Third at Navy Pod Meet

Final Stats

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The women's swimming & diving team finished third out of four at Saturday's pd meet at Navy. Navy took first place overall followed by Loyola (MD), GW and Catholic. Junior Lauren Fuchs swept the breastroke events and also added a fourth place finish. Freshman diver Sarah Landry also won the three-meter dive.

Fuch and fellow junior Ariana Berdini took one-two in the 100-yard breastroke in 1:17.31 and 1:18.23, respectively. Fuchs also took the 200-yard distance in 2:45.51.

Landry had a very successful debut as she took the three-meter dive with 205.80 points. The Carlisle, MA, native finished second in the one-meter dive with 235.80 points.

Sophomore Emily Leik added a second and two fourth place finishes in the 200-yard IM and both backstroke events, respectively. In the 200-yard IM, the Greensboro, NC, native hit the wall in 2:33.31. Fuchs took fourth in the event in 2:37.07. Leik finished the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events in 1:10.25 and 2:30.09, respectively.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of juniors Luciana Maggiolo and Jessica Miga, as well as sophomore Katrina Timlin and freshman Sarah Beggs took second on the day, finishing in 1:57.30. Miga added a pair of fourth place finishes for GW in the sprint freestyle events.

Freshman Noelle Miesfeld contributed with a third and fourth place finish for the Colonials as well. Out of Tucson, AZ, the former Junior National qualifier took third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:30.01. Miesfeld also took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.03 with senior Molly Moss taking fifth in 1:10.38.

 

 

The Colonials will be in action next on Friday, October 26 at Catholic when they also take on American. GW will be at American the following day, October 27, as the same three teams will compete in the second session.
