PHILADELPHIA, PA -- GW sophomore Sarah Beggs and freshman Isabel Tawney were the lone winners for GW as Beggs captured the 100 butterfly in the time of 59.97, nearly two seconds ahead of La Salle's Shannon Duval. Aside from the performances of Beggs and Tawney, however, the Colonials did not fare well as La Salle defeated GW, 200-98, while the Explorer women dominated the Colonials women's team by the final score of 202-91.

Tawney had a strong showing in both backstroke events narrowly losing each by less than a second. Tawney was out-touched by seven one-hundredths-of-a-second in the 200 back and by six one-hundredths-of-a-second in the 100 back. Tawney, however, was declared the winner of the 200 back after the timing system touch pad malfunctioned and the officials awarded her first place in the event.

GW senior Lauren Fuchs placed second in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.

GW next swims Saturday, Nov. 8, at home against Drexel in a coed dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m. Diving begins at 11:00 a.m.
