Swimming & Diving Completes First Two Days of Patriot Invitational

Fairfax, VA-The George Washington men's and women's swimming & diving teams are in Fairfax, VA this weekend competing at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason University. After day one, the women were in seventh place, while the men finished the day tied for ninth.

Through day one, GW posted 27 season best times in the preliminary swims, with seven swimmers qualifying for the finals of their respective races. The reigning Atlantic 10 Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year, sophomore David Zenk, took the 200-yard IM crown in 1:51.95.

Through day two, the women fell to ninth place while the men moved up to ninth place. In the process, the Colonials posted 28 season best times in the prelims with 17 swimmers qualifying for the finals later that night. Zenk won his second individual crown of the Invitational, setting a new Meet Record in the 400-yard IM in 3:57.73. His Meet Record time was also just tenths off the GW All-Time record, which Juan Bocanegra owns with a record time of 3:57.50 set back in 1998.

The meet concludes Sunday, with preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
