FAIRFAX, VA - The GW swim teams netted eight top-10 finishes in the second day of the George Mason's Patriot Invitational on Saturday. The Colonials raced against teams from American, Georgetown, George Mason, Howard, Seton Hall, Shippensburg, UMBC, and UNC Wilmington at the Jack McKay Natatorium.

Sophomore Phillip Graeter led the way for the Colonials, earning sixth-place finishes in the men's 400-yard Individual Medley (4:08.86) and the men's 100-yard backstroke (52.97). Sophomore Alex Etz finished 10th in the 100-yard back (52.73) also earning points for the Colonials.

Niklas Glenesk took seventh place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.21), after placing ninth in the prelims earlier in the day.

The women's squad had a strong showing in the relays, finishing fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Paola Leor, Taylor Cole, Sloan Saunders and Caroline Myers teamed up to post a time of 7:42.19. Kristina Martin, Remy Neville, Erica Becker, and Chelsey Weatherford teamed up to also post a time of 8:02.79 for 12th place.

The women's squad opened the second day finals session of the meet with an eight-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Lindsay Moore, Rachael Johnston, Leor, and Sydney Saunders tallied a time of 1:49.69.

 

 

In the 400-yard Individual Medley, Myers finished sixth with a time of 4:33.59 and Neville took 16th at 4:48.48 to earn points for the Colonials.

The final day of the Patriot Invitational preliminary session begins Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and finals will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Jack McKay Natatorium.
