NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington women’s swimming junior Caroline Myers was named to the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, the league announced on Friday.
It marks the second straight year the Oldsmar, Fla., native has earned the academic accolade. To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for their entire collegiate careers.
With a cumulative GPA of 3.75, the sport, event and hospitality major was also named to the 2012 GW Athletics Academic Dean’s List as well as the Fall 2012 A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
In the pool, Myers, a two-time team MVP, paced the Colonials with 15 first-place finishes on the season. At last month’s A-10 Championships, Myers anchored the school's record-setting 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished seventh with a time of 7:32.59, besting the previous GW mark of 7:34.01. The junior also finished fourth in the 500-free in 4:54.43 and seventh in the 1,650-free with a time of 16:58.61.
