Swimming & Diving To Compete in Pod Meet at Navy

Oct. 12, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will travel to Annapolis, MD on Saturday, October 13, to compete in a pod meet against the host Midshipmen, Loyola (MD) and Catholic at 11:00 am.

In a pod meet last season versus these very same teams, the Colonials finished third in both the men's and women's competitions as junior David Zenk and sophomore Emily Leik led their respective teams. Zenk took home three titles for the men (100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM), while Leik won the 200-yard IM and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle.

The women's squad also got a win from its 400-yard freestyle relay team of senior Molly Moss and juniors Jessica Miga, Luciana Maggiolo and Laura Myers.

Junior Ariana Berdini and sophomore Katrina Timlin also turned in solid performances as Berdini placed second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard and 100-yard breaststrokes. Timlin edged out Berdini for second in the 100-yard distance.

Sophomore Cascade Tuholske placed third in the 200-yard butterfly and fellow sophomore Stephen Cosme anchored the second place finishing, 400-yard freestyle relay, to score well for the Colonials.
