Colonials Add Championship Experience to Staff

George Washington head women's tennis coach Torrie Browning announced the hiring of Petra Ferancova as assistant coach in August of 2016.

In her first season, Ferancova helped the Colonials post an 11-10 overall record - finishing above the .500 mark for the first time since the 2014 season. Ferancova helped coach three A-10 All-Conference honorees.

A Lucenec, Slovakia, native, Ferancova came to GW after serving as assistant coach at the University of Albany for the 2015-16 season, helping the Great Danes win their first ever America East crown to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Ferancova helped develop the conference's Player and Rookie of the year - Jovana Kenic - in the program's final season.

Prior to her stint at UAlbany, Ferancova spent the 2014-15 season as a volunteer assistant coach for Mississippi State University.

Ferancova graduated from Mississippi State University in 2015 after earning SEC All-Academic honors twice in her three-year career. Ferancova was also a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete, a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member and a four-time President's Scholar.

Ferancova is working toward a master's degree in applied economics while at GW.
