GW Women's Tennis Blanks Saint Francis (Pa.), 7-0, in Season Opener
Jan. 29, 2012 Sophomore Leah Pascarella and senior Zoe Krohn, and the doubles pairs of Krohn and junior Mimi Hamling and Pascarella and sophomore Isabella Escobar, held their opponents scoreless. In the No. 1 singles spot, Pascarella defeated Lucy Jasso of Saint Francis, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Jacqueline Corba beat Shivani Patel, 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot, and Hamling took down Alexandra Sachs, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 3 spot. Escobar defeated Nuria Valls, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and Krohn blanked Devynn Sarver, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 spot. At No. 6, senior Meg Tyner rolled past Laura Husband, 6-1, 6-0. Hamling and Krohn teamed up in No. 1 doubles play and defeated Jasso and Sachs, 8-0. Escobar and Pascarella beat Patel and Valls, 8-0, in No. 2 action, and Corba and Tyner defeated Sarver and Husband, 8-1, in the No. 3 spot.
