Women's Tennis Sweeps Howard, 7-0

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University women's tennis defeated Howard University, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Montclair Country Club in Woodbridge, VA. The victory evens the Colonials' spring record to 1-1. In singles competition, sophomore Nadia Demidenko came roaring back in a tense top match to win 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5). Jacqui Corba in the No. 2 flight and Jennifer Hirsh in the No. 3 flight both won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Meg Tyner, Madhuri Jha and Verena Knoedler also won their singles matches for GW. No. 1 Colonials doubles pair of Nadia Demidenko and Jacqui Corba was victorious in their match up against Howard, 8-4. GW momentum carried on to the No. 2 and No. 3 match ups for Jennifer Hirsh and Madhuri Jha and Meg Tyner and Michele Style, respectively. Women's tennis is back in action against Georgetown at 2 p.m. on Feb. 11, at the Montclair Country Club in Woodbridge, VA. Complete Results
