GW Women's Tennis Edged at Georgetown, 4-3

WASHINGTON - In its first of two matches this weekend, the George Washington women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to cross-town rival Georgetown on Saturday inside the Hoyas' Yates Field House.
The Colonials (1-2) posted victories at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles positions, while the Hoyas (4-1) claimed Nos. 1, 2 and 6, in addition to the doubles point.
Senior Mimi Hamling earned a three-set victory over Georgetown's Madeline Jaeger in the No. 3 singles match by scores of 7-5, 1-6, 6-1. Freshman Stephanie defeated Sophie Panarese, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the No. 4 match and senior Dorota Lysienia posted a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10) tiebreaker victory over Taylor Perz in the fifth-flight match.
In the No. 1 spot, junior Leah Pascarella fell to Victoria Sekely, 6-0, 6-4, and freshman Lana Robins dropped the No. 2 match, 6-4, 6-2. In her first action of the spring, junior Isabella Escobar fell to Liz Hamlin, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot.
In doubles action, Lysienia and Robins fell to Jaeger and Panarese, 8-2, in the No. 2 match and the rookie pair of Christina Carpenter and Wei was downed by Hamlin and Perz, 8-3.
GW returns to the court on Sunday when the Colonials host local foe George Mason at the Montclair Country Club in Montclair, Va., at 6:30 p.m.
