Women’s Tennis Falls to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- The George Washington women’s tennis team narrowly fell to West Virginia, 4-3, on Saturday in its first road match of the season at the Summit Tennis Academy.

The Colonials (3-2) grabbed the early doubles point with the duos of Maria Siopacha/Melis Bayraktaroglu and Sara Grubac/Victoria Kogan giving GW an early 1-0 lead.

The squad then battled in singles play, with Siopacha and Bayraktaroglu taking a pair of victories, but West Virginia was able to tie the score at 3-3 before clinching the final match to earn the 4-3 win.

LOOK AHEAD: The Buff and Blue return to action next Friday to host Long Beach State at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center before heading to Maryland on Sunday.
