Women's Tennis Downed at Liberty
Feb. 17, 2008 LYNCHBURG, VA - George Washington University women's tennis lost at Liberty, 5-2, in a non-conference match late Saturday evening at the Sports Racket in Lynchburg, VA. It was the third straight loss for the Colonials and dropped their overall record to 4-4. Liberty captured the doubles point when they swept all three matches. From the No. 1 position, Jordan Jenkins and Ekaterina Kuznetsova managed to escape past George Washington's Kendall Swenson and Nadia Demidenko, 8-6. In the singles action, the Lady Flames took four of the six contests from the Colonials. Jenkins, the No. 1 player, defeated Swenson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. The freshman has yet to lose in singles this season. The two GW wins came from Nadia Demidenko, in the No. 2 position, 6-4, 6-4, and Verena Knoedler, in a very tightly contested match from the No. 6 spot, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0(10). George Washington continues their spring schedule Mar. 1, when then travel to George Mason, at 1:00 p.m.
