Colonials Falls to Delaware, 6-1

ELKTON, MD -- The George Washington women's tennis team fell to the Blue Hens of Delaware Sunday night, 6-1, to fall to 4-3 on the season. No. 3 doubles duo of Jennifer Hirsh and Sasha Gluck won 9-7 over Megan Duran and Amanda Halstrom, for the Colonials only doubles victory of the match. Sophomore Jacqueline Corba defeated Elena Berry, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, extending her winning streak to consecutive wins over the weekend. Hirsh's No. 4 singles match was decided by tiebreakers every set against Montse Ropoli. Hirsh dropped the first match via tiebreaker 6-7 (7-9), won the second set 7-6 (7-5), but fell in the third set 10-4. Freshman Dorota Lysienia, in her No. 3 singles match, kept the Hens' Ivana Petrich on her toes. Lysienia pushed Petrich in both sets but fell 6-4, 7-5. The Colonials are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m., at the University of Pennsylvania, making up the snowed out match from Feb. 6. GW then takes on Richmond Sunday at the Montclair Country Club, Sunday at 2 p.m.
