Colonials Look for Third Straight Win on Sunday at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - The George Washington women's tennis team defeated Massachusetts, 5-2, in its Atlantic 10 opener on Saturday evening at the indoor Stadium Tennis Center.
The Colonials (2-3) won the doubles point and four singles matches to defeat Massachusetts (5-5), and will conclude their conference road swing on Sunday against Fordham at 4 p.m.
"The team is improving its doubles play and playing more aggressively in singles," said Head Coach Greg Munoz. "We need to keep pushing and stay focused against Fordham."
To open the match, senior Isabella Escobar and freshman Taylor Nederlander defeated Minutewomen pair of Yuliana Motyl and Aarzoo Malik, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles, and freshman Grace Egger and sophomore Lana Robins topped Jessica Podlofsky and Arielle Griffin, 8-6, in the No. 2 spot.
Robins went on to win her No. 1 singles match over Sonia Bokhari, 6-4, 6-1, and senior Leah Pascarella earned a 6-4, 6-2 second-flight victory over Motyl. Nederlander earned a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Podlofsky at No. 5 and Egger defeated Chanel Glasper, 6-1, 7-5, in the No. 6 match.
GW takes on Fordham on Sunday afternoon and continues its five-match conference slate at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus on Monday, March 10 against Saint Louis.
