WASHINGTON -- In the afternoon sun on Saturday, the GW women's tennis defeated the Saint Joseph's Hawks at GW's outdoor Mount Vernon Tennis Facility, 6-1.

No. 1 doubles duo Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn led the Colonials with an 8-4 victory. Jacqueline Corba and Sasha Gluck paired up for the first time at No. 2 doubles, earning a 8-1 win, while Dorota Lysienia and Meg Tyner, also a first match for the pair, won 8-1, for GW to secure the doubles point.

The Colonials carried their hot rackets into the singles matches, with Corba, Jennifer Hirsh, Krohn, Tyner and Gluck to win in straight sets. Lysienia fell at No. 2 singles in a three set heartbreaker 6-4 2-6 10-6.

The sun was so nice while it was out that the teams got in some exhibition matches in both singles and doubles play.

GW's next match at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility is Wednesday, March 10, when the Colonials take on St. John's, starting at 9 a.m.
