Colonials Capture Second Home Win Over St. John's, 4-3

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's tennis sophomore Jacqueline Corba won in straight sets at No. 1 singles after teaming up with Sasha Gluck to win at No. 2 doubles in the 4-3 victory over St. John's, Wednesday at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility. Corba and Gluck, teamed up at No. 2 doubles in back-to-back home matches to win swiftly, 8-3, while the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches were a little tighter. At No. 1 doubles, Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn were tested but were able to pull a head for the 8-6 victory. For Dorota Lysienia and Meg Tyner at No. 3 doubles, the match went into extras but they were able to shut the door on St. John's before going into a super tie-breaker. In the No. 1 singles match, Corba won 6-4, 6-2, over her St. John's opponent, Ira Aleksova. The Colonials dropped the No. 2, 3 and 4 matches to the Red Storm, but got two big extra-set match wins from Krohn and Tyner in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches. The Colonials travel to North Carolina next week to face UNC Wilmington on Sunday, March 14, at 12 p.m. Then on Tuesday, March 16, GW takes on Campbell in Lillington, NC, at 2:30 p.m. GW 4, ST.JOHNS 3
