GW Women's Tennis Tops Towson, 4-3, in Outdoor Home Opener
Pascarella, Robins Go Undefeated to Help Colonials to Win Over Tigers

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's tennis opened outdoor play at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus on Tuesday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Atlantic Region foe Towson.
The Colonials (4-4) earned the doubles point and picked up singles wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 to defeat the Tigers (5-4). Senior Leah Pascarella and sophomore Lana Robins paced GW as they both we undefeated on the afternoon.
GW took a 1-0 lead to open the match as the No. 2 duo of freshman Grace Egger and Robins extended its win streak to six matches with an 8-4 win over Sophie Lesage and Nisha Shah. Pascarella and sophomore Stephanie Wei picked up their third straight No. 3 doubles victory as they rolled to an 8-1 decision over Ayana Dow and Cailey Easdale.
In singles action, Pascarella improved to five straight match victories as she downed Nani Lizana, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 1 spot. Robins defeated Dow, 6-4, 6-3, in the second flight and sophomore Christina Carpenter earned a convincing No. 6 win over Ariel Burke, 6-1, 6-1.
Wei was edged in three sets by Lorena Ferrer at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-3, 1-6, 5-7, freshman Taylor Nederlander fell to Lesage, 2-6, 3-6, at No. 4 and Egger was defeated by Shah at No. 5, 2-6, 4-6.
GW returns to action on Saturday, March 22 at Atlantic 10 rival VCU. Action in Richmond, Va., is slated for 11 a.m.
