Women's Tennis Silences Nova Southeastern, 7-2,
March 15, 2011 FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - George Washington women's tennis headed back to the courts on Tuesday when they took on Division II No. 22 Nova Southeastern at the NSU Tennis Courts. The Colonials defeated the Sharks, 7-2. GW took a quick lead during the doubles action. At the No. 1 double match, Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn won 8-2, over NSU's Justine Feaster and Oksana Krutiyenko. Freshmen Leah Pascarella and Isabella Escobar won the No. 3 doubles match, 8-6, over their NSU opponents. In singles action, the Colonials' dropped only one match to the Sharks. At No. 1 singles, Jacqueline Corba fell in straight sets to Dominique Wimmer, 6-1, 6-3. Julia Blakeley, Pascarella, Hamling and Dorota Lysienia won No. 2 through 4 and 6 singles in straight sets, while Jennifer Hirsh won in three sets at the No. 5 match. The Colonials head back to Mount Vernon Tennis Center to take on James Madison on Friday, March 25, with matches set to start at 12:00 pm.
