Women's Tennis Falls at Home to James Madison, 6-1
March 25, 2011 WASHINGTON, DC- George Washington women's tennis battled James Madison a sunny but chilly Friday at the Mount Vernon Tennis Center, falling to the Dukes 6-1. The Colonials fall to 10-5 while the Dukes improved to 8-5 on the season. GW battled in doubles as Zoe Krohn and Mimi Hamling pushed the No. 1 match to a tiebreaker set before falling 8-7 (8-6). The Dukes also defeated the Colonials at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. The Colonials fell in straight sets in the No. 1, and No. 3-5 singles matches. Freshman Julia Blakeley won her first set at No. 2 singles, 6-2, but dropped the second and third sets, 0-6, 2-6. Dorota Lysienia picked up the only Colonial win at No. 6 singles, defeating Ruxandra Andriescu, 6-0, 6-3. The Colonials continue weekend play on Sunday, March 27 when the squad travels to Philadelphia to take on Atlantic 10 foes Temple at 11:00 am and Saint Joseph's at 3:30 pm.
