GW Women's Tennis Snaps Skid With 5-2 Win Over Morgan State
Colonials Host Temple on Saturday at the GW Tennis Center

MONTCLAIR, Va. - The George Washington women's tennis team snapped a three-match skid on Sunday evening with a 5-2 victory over Morgan State at the indoor Montclair Country Club.
GW (8-5) claimed the doubles point by winning at all three spots before posting singles victories at the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles positions en route to the win. Morgan State (7-12) saw its four-match winning streak end with the loss.
The Colonials opened Sunday's action with a sweep in doubles play. The No. 1 tandem of senior Mimi Hamling and junior Leah Pascarella earned an 8-5 win over Mi'Kola Cooper and Chelsi Russell, and senior Dorota Lysienia and freshman Lana Robins downed Jasmine Edwards and Ekaterina Iakovleva, 8-2, in the No. 2 doubles match. The No. 3 rookie duo of Christina Carpenter and Stephanie Wei defeated Arina Alilueva and Margarita Belyakova, 8-5.
In No. 2 singles play, Robins blanked Cooper, 6-0, in the first set before Cooper was forced to retire. Wei earned a three-set victory over Russell in the No. 3 slot by scores of 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, and Hamling downed Belyakova, 6-4, 6-1, in the No. 4 match. Carpenter held a 6-0, 2-0 advantage over Edwards in the No. 6 spot when Edwards retired.
GW welcomes Atlantic 10 foe Temple on Saturday, March 30, at the outdoor GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
